341 Tipar Cakung Flat Units Emptying Canceled

100 joint personnel from the military, police, and Satpol PP are deployed to forcibly vacate 341 units in Tipar Cakung Flat, East Jakarta, Wednesday (6/11). As known, the occupants of those 341 units have arrears of monthly rental between 5-79 months up to Rp 3 billion. However, the plan is canceled because Jakarta Housing and Government’s Building Department still gives them grace period until next week to settle their obligations.

They should be able to finish the half of their arrears within a week ahead. The remaining must be paid in the next three months. Otherwise, we will vacate their units

The personnel only persuasively warned hundreds of delinquent occupants to sign an agreement in which stated to pay half of the total arrears within a period of one week to the next. Within three months, they have to pay off all the arrears. Otherwise, the flat will be vacated by force.

Head of Jakarta Housing and Government’s Building Department Region III Flat Management Unit, Jefyodya Julian, said those 341 units are spread over three blocks, namely Jatisari, Puspa Indah, and Meranti. In total, there are 10 blocks consist of 100 units each in Tipar Cakung Flat.

“ They should be able to finish the half of their arrears within a week ahead. The remaining must be paid in the next three months. Otherwise, we will vacate their units . If we didn’t control this, it would become a bad precedent for other occupants in this flat,” he stated.

Julian explained that the highest arrear is Rp 46 million for 59 months of the monthly fee of Rp 530 thousand. In Meranti Block, there are 203 units that are in arrears with the highest rental of Rp 38.378 million for 79 months. As for the lowest arrear is Rp 22 million in Meranti Block Unit 505. All flat occupants are common citizens, who in the majority are the evictees of Pulomas Flat, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

Especially for occupants in Jatisari Block Unit 306 on behalf of Setiadi Siregar, the unit’s execution had to be postponed because he is ill and on dialysis. Siregar is in arrears for 27 months of Rp 27.240 million, with a monthly fee of Rp 313 thousand.

One of the occupants in Puspa Indah Block Unit 309, who refused to tell her name, uttered that she has been in arrears for 53 months or equal to Rp 26 million. However, she cannot pay all at once because she does not have much money.

“In the past, we wanted to pay in installments of three months but the officers refused. They told to pay it all at once, but we do not have that much money, they did not let us to pay in installments,” she disclosed.
